Good Tuesday bloggers! We have a very active day ahead of us, so let's get right into it. Right now some light wintry mix, ice pellets, rain is moving NE, just west of the river. As the storm system inches closer this afternoon and tonight we will have a warm front move through, that will warm temps to near 50° overnight! This system has slowed just a bit, so I think the bulk of the wet weather will hold off until after sunset tonight. Here is a look at the simulated radar going into this afternoon and tonight...
7PM Rain increases from west to east 10PM rain/t-storms across the area
1AM moderate/heavy rain still falling 4AM rain wraps up
After about 6-8 hours of moderate to heavy rain, we will see some pretty hefty amounts of precip, as this system is very spring like. Here is a look at estimated precip total by Wednesday morning...
This puts the metro between .25" and .50" of rain tonight and areas to the north at .75"! So it is look like we will see a nice soaking over the next 18 hours. As this storm system wraps up, lingering areas of drizzle and or flurries will be possible for areas north of the metro.
Weather will quiet down for Thursday ahead of our next big system on Friday. Once again the models are still figuring out what they want to do with it, but we still maintain the potential for accumulating snow by Friday evening. Of course we will keep an eye on it over the next few days.
Weather Video of the Day:
Here is a fun video of a weather balloon being launched. It reaches a height of 24.2 miles above the earth's surface, before coming back to "down to earth."
